With over 20 years of experience in civic engagement, I have witnessed the rise and fall of many groups, seen strengths, weaknesses and their areas of focus. In my 11 years of working for a "political" non-profit, I have also seen and heard from many people around the state on why people engage, why they disengage and their concerns and suggestions that they wished for an organization. I want people to know that they are all important enough to me to know that it is because of my interactions with them that this organization has been created.
In an effort to define the proper legal relationships between the parties operating on federal land
and the agencies of the government, I wrote ‘The History of federal lands in the United States’ in
2021 initially to act as a legal jurisdiction guide for myself and the Ten Mile Mining District.
The data in the book has become the centerpiece for the current ‘pushback’ against federal
overreach. The book’s importance wasn’t initially understood but over time it became a rallying
point for political operators in the state looking to find the invisible boundaries between state and federal power.
